HCL Technologies is one of the fastest growing IT companies in India and this has resulted an increase in HCL campus recruitment. As part of its growth journey, HCL plans to double its campus recruitment for fiscal 2020-21. Last year, HCL hired around 8600 employees while this year they plan to hire 15000 employees. This hiring will include 500 students from top B-schools.

HCL also plans to expand its recruitment in United States. HCL said that about 67% of its employees in Unites States are locals.They plan to increase their US employee strength to 20000. They also plan to expand US hiring by 15-20% next year. Expansion plan also includes to include one more campus in US apart from the three campuses they already have. Its easier to implement and execute projects from vendor location instead of client location since client offices are located at high costs regions. This might decrease the operating cost of HCL by around 25-30%.

Apart from this, HCL also plans to increase the starting compensation by around 15-20% for all those who are hired at management and technical cadre. Students hired from IIM-Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta, ISB, XLRI and SP Jain can expect a CTC of Rs 20-23 lakh. IIM-Indore, Kozhikode and Lucknow will be getting CTC of Rs 15-18 lakh. Remaining MBA students can expect a CTC of Rs 4.5-7 lakh.

The management graduates go through HCL’s Global Engagement Manager (GEM) training programme. “Those who graduate from GEM largely get absorbed into sales and pre-sales roles. Others go into business analyst roles,” said Apparao. On the technical side, IIT graduates get a CTC of Rs 12-15 lakh, while those from NITs get a CTC of Rs 8-12 lakh.

HCL also runs an one-year training program for 12th pass outs which includes 9 months of classroom training and 3 months of practical work on the job. Post the training the students have to go through the test. Those students who perform well in the test can simultaneously pursue engineering from BITS-Pilani. The training however is not free and it invites signing a bond by the students. The above training cost Rs 2 lakh for 12th pass-outs. Engineering graduates need to pay Rs 2 lakh for 6 month training while non-engineering graduates and post-graduates pay Rs 1 lakh for 3 month program. The bond says that candidates have to work with HCL for some fixed number of years.
