TCS arm, TCS iON, set up an AI lab for monitoring of exam centres

  • AI driven centre to examine 6000 exam centres
  • Centre to have hi-tech facilities to have a check on malpractices related issues

TCS iON, an arm of TCS, set up an Artificial Intelligence based command centre to monitor 6000 of its exam centres on a real time basis. TCS iON helps education boards and recruitment bodies to conduct examinations in India through its digital-zones. It has conducted 3180 exam across 643 cities so far.

Set-up with a intention to help the exam administration have a better experience of conducting exam with transparency, this facility at Sholinganallur, Chennai will monitor the exam process with different parameters to prevent, predict and post incidents as alerts for management of exam.

This facility will keep an eye on the digital devices carried by the candidates and will track any incidents of malpractices at the exam centre. The facility is all equipped to check the readiness of the exam centre based on the past incidents of the malpractices as well as the current live feeds of events at the exam centre. The command centre will have a remote energy management solution to to handle sudden power failure issues to prevent the disruptions during the exam process.

Venguswamy Ramaswamy, Global Head, TCS iON, said, “This is our next leap to re-imagine the exam monitoring process and assure fair and free exams at scale, even in the remotest locations within and outside India. This is aligned to our vision of making examination processes in the country secure and scalable. The real-time monitoring of the end-to-end
examination process has been made possible through an interplay of digital technologies covering cloud, analytics, artificial intelligence driven algorithms, IoT frameworks and other high-end computational and image processing algorithms. By providing such 360-degree assurance, we aim to raise the bar for monitoring large scale exams.”
