Google appoints Sanjay Gupta to head its India business

Google appoints former Star and Disney head Sanjay Gupta to head its India business division. Sanjay Gupta says that he is very delighted to take the challenge of leading Google India after being appointed Country manager for Google India. Along with this responsibility, he will also be serving as Vice President of Sales and Operations for India.

Before Sanjay Gupta, Rajan Anandan was heading Google India who quit recently to join Sequoia. Sequoia is an American Venture capital firm located in Menlo Park and caters mainly to technology industry. Until Sanjay Gupta`s appointment, Vikas Agnihotri was serving as Google’s interim Managing Director. He is currently Google’s Country Director for sales in India.

Sanjay Gupta said that he is feeling excited to use the power of technology and internet to solve country’s problems and make internet a part of India`s economic growth story. These initiatives will also help in realizing India’s dream of digital transformation and using the technology to the fullest.

Sanjay Gupta educational history:
He completed his engineering from Delhi College of engineering. Post this he did his post graduation from IIM Kolkata. Before joining Google, he was serving as Managing Director of Star and Disney India. He has also worked in HUL and Bharti Airtel as Chief Marketing Officer.

Scott Beaumont, President Google APAC, said that he is excited in having Sanjay Gupta in Google. His expertise, experience and leadership will help building a more inclusive and helpful internet for people of India in this competitive, dynamic and digital economy environment. He also said that their Indian operation are important and strategic for the out coming innovation which is then surpassed to Google elsewhere.

Google Maps have rolled out a new feature which will allow users to edit their public profile and take control of what other users will see when they see our page. Until now, this was possible only fro the Google app. But now with the new, ‘My Profile’ tab in Google Maps, we have actually change or update the public profile. Before this new feature, how the users can check their public profile:

1) Go to Google Maps
2) click the options bar in top left panel
3) Go to ‘Your Contribution’
4) Click Local Guide information(need to enroll first in case not done)
5) The from the top right hand side 3 dots menu, click View public profile

This was displaying only their name, profile picture and reviews/ratings.

The new feature however is rolling out server-side to Maps users. This will require to get a latest version of V10.29.1 on APK Mirror to see it. This will also be changing the old interface of Your Contributions that has been in use for several months.
